You may recognize the block that is used - the Hunter's Star quilt block. This is a classic block that has been used for decades in the quilting world. For years, the only way to make this block was with paper piecing and half square triangles.

While writing my Hunter's Star quilt pattern, I cut fabric for a second version in blue and green. This quilt top is all solids and I chose colors that play off each other to really grab the eye. The blue is the same color I used in my Lucky Lone Star quilt, and the green is somewhere between a lime and a chartreuse. I quilted this version with straight lines, following the seams in a ditch.

Stitch around on all 4 sides of the charms with a 1/4'' seam. Now, cut diagonally both ways to create 4 triangles on these squares. Then, take each triangle and open them up and press carefully to create 8 HST's. Now comes the trimming! Square each little triangle up so they end up 2 3/4'' square.
